Easy-to-rank search volume is the combined monthly search volume of the keywords you could realistically win: the demand sitting behind Weak Spots. Search volume counts everyone searching; Easy-to-rank search volume counts the searches your site can actually compete for today, with well-made content alone.
The rule behind it is plain: a keyword counts as soon as it has at least one weak spot - there is no threshold - and its full monthly search volume is added. The metric is a straightforward sum of the winnable keywords’ volumes.
Where you see it
Easy-to-rank search volume lives on the Pages screen. Open Manage columns and tick Easy-to-rank search volume to add the column; it is also available as a filter there.
Because it is built on Weak spots, it inherits their ground rules: winnability is judged against Google’s top 10, relative to your own site’s standing - and if your project was created from a keyword, it uses the cautious young-site baseline until you connect Google Search Console, so expect the figures to move when real domain data arrives.
Why it beats raw volume
Total search volume is the size of the room; Easy-to-rank search volume is the size of the door.
Imagine two pages - the numbers are illustrative:
| Page A | Page B | |
| Search volume (everyone searching) |
8,000 / month | 2,400 / month |
|
Easy-to-rank search volume (winnable for you) |
150 / month | 1,300 / month |
Page A looks more than three times bigger. But almost all of its demand sits behind results your site cannot break into with content alone - its winnable share is tiny. Page B is smaller, and mostly open: over half of its searches sit in keywords where weak spots were found. As a first move, B offers almost nine times more traffic you can actually reach.
This is the trap the metric exists to prevent: choosing work by the biggest raw number, then spending months on positions that were never realistically available. Raw volume tells you what a subject is worth to whoever ranks; Easy-to-rank search volume tells you what it is worth to you, now. What is search volume? [link is coming] covers the raw figure.
How to read it
Use it to choose between candidates. When two pages or clusters compete for your time, compare their Easy-to-rank search volume before their totals. The bigger door usually beats the bigger room.
A small figure under a big total is a long game, not a dead end. It means the demand is real, but the results are firmly held. You can still go after it - with authority, links, and time - but it should not be your next piece of content.
It is an estimate built on an assessment. Volumes are modelled, and weak spots are a reading of today’s results for your site’s current standing. Treat the figure as a comparison tool, not a forecast of visits.
