Your first session has four steps: tell RankDots what your site is about, confirm the direction, let the analysis run, and read the plan it built for you. It ends with a full content plan on screen - no setup, nothing to install, and Google Search Console can wait until later.
Step 1 - Enter your domain or a topic
- Select Add new project.
- Enter your website’s domain - or, if you prefer, a keyword that describes your business.
- Choose the language and country you want to rank in. Advanced location options narrows the country to a state, region or city if your business is local.
- Select Find topics.
A domain gives RankDots the most to work with: it reads your current pages, your rankings, and your competitors’ footprint as data before building anything. A keyword works just as well when there is no site yet. Create your first project covers every field and option in depth.
Step 2 - Confirm the direction
Whether you started from a domain or a keyword, RankDots now shows the groups of keywords it found and asks you to select the categories that match your business. Untick anything that is not you. Nothing fitting at all? Switch on Not seeing what you’re looking for? and describe your topic in your own words, then select Find topics again. Thirty seconds here saves you a plan full of someone else’s business.
Step 3 - Let the analysis run
Everything now happens in the background: keywords are discovered and checked, analysed, grouped into pages, clustered into topics and prioritised. The screen shows a tutorial video and a short progress notice while it works - there is nothing to configure and nothing to click. It is a short wait, and you do not have to spend it watching: RankDots emails you when your project is built. When the analysis is complete, the results appear all at once.
Step 4 - Read your plan
The finished plan opens on the Topic clusters screen: a banner summarising how many ways to grow your traffic were found and what they are worth per month, above one card per topic cluster - already sorted with the biggest opportunities first. The sidebar shows the plan’s three levels: Topic clusters contain Pages, pages contain Keywords.
Two good ways in from here. Walk me step by step takes you on a guided path to your first piece of content. I explore all myself leaves you with the sorted plan - skim the top cards, open Explore topic & pages on anything interesting, and star the clusters that fit your business. Either way, the next article picks up exactly here: Your plan is ready - what now?
