Site Audit reflects a snapshot of your site's performance at the time of the last scan. As you publish new content, improve existing pages, and rankings shift, you will want to re-scan to update your action plan.
When to re-scan
- After publishing a new article recommended by Site Audit
- After making significant changes to an existing page
- After a few weeks have passed and you want to check ranking changes
- When you have imported new keywords into the project and want them reflected in the audit
How to re-scan
Click the Re-scan button in the GSC status bar at the top of the Site Audit screen. Re-scanning will:
- Pull the latest clicks, impressions, and rankings from GSC
- Recalculate all recommendations based on current performance data
- Reset your progress - Done and Skipped statuses will be cleared and the plan will be rebuilt from scratch
A confirmation dialog will appear before the re-scan starts:
"Refreshing GSC data will pull the latest search performance. Site audit recommendations will be recalculated and your progress will be reset."
Click Refresh to confirm or Cancel to go back.
How Site Audit interacts with the rest of your project
Site Audit is deeply integrated with your project data. Changes to your project can affect your audit results, and the audit produces recommendations that feed directly into other RankDots workflows.
Project changes that trigger a recommendation recalculation
The following actions will cause Site Audit recommendations to be recalculated and your progress to be reset:
- Importing new keywords - adds new keyword data that may surface new gaps or change existing recommendation priorities
- Deleting keywords, pages, or topic clusters - removes data that existing recommendations may depend on
